Question: I am 32 years old and look tired all the time due to dark bags under my eyes, it feels like saggy tissue. I would like the fat removed. Can this be accomplished with gentle liposuction or is blepharoplasty necessary? Answer: Liposuctioning the area of the eye is not a good idea because of all those structures that are present. Removal of the fatty tissue can be performed with a lower lid blepharoplasty either with an incision under the eye under the lash line or through a transconjunctival blepharoplasty which involves an incision inside of the eye with no visible scars. We are investigating new techniques, such as Altera, which are ultrasound devices used to remove the fatty tissue non-surgically.
